The Land The Lord Has Given You By Shari Weigerstorfer
"So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, 'How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?'" (Joshua 18:3)
Isn't it amazing that even with the assurance of victory, we are not always motivated to action. "Possessing the land" requires hard work and sometimes warfare. So, like the sons of Israel, we "put it off."
Unfortunately for us, many of God's promises are "if you will, I will" affirmations. "If you step out in faith, I will give you the land" agreements. Or "we together" arrangements that require the participation of both parties.
God is committed to our success. He will do everything we can't do. But He will never do what we can do. His promises solidify the ground we walk on but He will not force us to take the steps. Faith is an action word. Its very nature requires a "stepping out."
Sometimes God has already done everything He ever plans on doing besides assuring our success. Sometimes He's just waiting for us.
He waits until we are committed. He waits for us to act in faith. He waits until we give it everything we have, everything we are and all the energy we possess.
After we have done all we are capable of, then He will step in and make up the difference. Only then will He appropriate all He is into becoming all we need.
It's like a parent who tells a child, "If you want that and are willing to use your money for it, I will pay the difference. I will help you do this." It's a test. Is the child really serious? Are they willing to sacrifice for it? Are they willing to give all they have? If they are, then the resources of the parent are made available.
Oh children of God, when will we become determined about entering into our inheritance? When will we be willing to take risks for it? To war for it? To passionately pray for it? There is so much the Father yearns to see us possess. Even today the question stands:
"How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord has given you?"
