COME LORD JESUS
“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
Matthew 24: 27, 30, 31, 42 - 44
King James Version
I think that every Christian would echo these words “Come Lord Jesus” because we get weary of the attacks of satan, the world, and sad to say, our own families. While our hearts desire is to be with Jesus, we still have work to do. Many of us have family members and loved ones who have not accepted Jesus as personal Saviour. None of us want our families and loved ones left behind should Jesus return for us now. We must be about the Master’s business while there is still time.
Our loved ones need to see the difference that Jesus has made in our lives. We need to forgive them when they hurt us and we must be very careful that we don’t hurt them. It is impossible for us to love and forgive others when they hurt us so deeply by their critical and sarcastic words. However if we allow Jesus to work in our hearts, we will be able to forgive them and love them unconditionally as we are commanded.
When they hurt us time after time we lose the desire to forgive and love them. It is only through the unconditional love that Jesus deposits in our hearts that we are able to forgive and love them. There is nothing as important and as urgent in this life as winning our loved ones to Jesus. Anything that comes before this commission that Jesus has given us has become an idol to us. One of the sneakiest ways that satan creeps in and steals our focus and time away from Jesus is through our schedules and deadlines that must be met.
Father, in the busyness and hectic schedules of our daily lives, remind us to stop and spend time with You. Let us not become so involved in what we are doing that we forget that You are longing to spend time with us. Please forgive us when we allow things to become idols to us by focusing on them, rather than on You. We pray that You would please touch the hearts of our loved ones and bring them into Your kingdom. Above all, we pray that they will know how much You love them. Thank You for the greatest gift ever given the gift of your own beloved Son. Thank You for caring about us and for putting our tears in a bottle. Father, our hearts are weary and we need a refreshing touch from You. We pray that You would give us a deeper desire to love and win our families to Jesus. Keep us from saying and doing things that will hurt You. We love You and we appreciate You. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
