THE ONE WHO DIED FOR ME
“And they bring him unto the place Golgotha , which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
Mark 15: 22 - 26
King James Version
I received an email yesterday from my prayer partner who just came back from a trip. She told me that she had met a lot of wonderful people but that she was really excited to have met this one person. I have never met Kathi in person but hopefully next year I will have the privilege of meeting her. She has been a daily source of encouragement and inspiration to me. She has been very supportive of the missions that God has assigned to me and that is one of the reasons that I am able to do a devotional every day. I am looking forward to meeting her with joyful anticipation and eagerness.
As much as I love my friend, there is someone else who I want to meet more than her. This precious, wonderful and awesome friend died for me and His name is Jesus. There is no one like Jesus! No one loves us like Jesus loves us. He is a friend beyond compare. One day I will have the privilege and joy of seeing the One who died for me face to face. What excitement and happiness floods my heart as I think about seeing Jesus in person! I will look upon the face of my beloved Saviour; the One who died for me so that I may have forgiveness of my sins and be assured of a home in heaven for all eternity. O how I long for that day!
Jesus, my precious Saviour, humbled Himself and became sin for us and allowed them to torture and humiliate Him because of His amazing unconditional love for us. O how I love Jesus! I love Him with every breath that I take. Indeed, He is the reason for every breath that I have. He is the Sonshine of my heart; the reason I get out of bed and the only reason to live. Without Jesus, there is no reason to get up in the morning because without Him there is no real happiness, no real joy and no real peace. What a Saviour, this Jesus of Nazareth !
Today if you are in the middle of a heartbreaking situation, remember that Jesus loves you so much that He died for you on a cruel cross of agony. No matter what the situation or crisis in your life, He is more than able to bring you through them into victory if you will only put your trust in Him. I think one of the reasons why we have so much turmoil in our lives is because we try to solve our problems ourselves. It hasn’t worked and it will never work because only Jesus can change a heart and life. We sing a song “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there” yet many times as soon as we give our burdens to Him, we pick them up again and try to solve them ourselves. It’s no wonder at all that we have so many heartaches in our lives.
Jesus died for you. What are you doing for Him? Are you giving Him all of your time or are you just giving Him a couple of hours in the morning and what is left over at the end of the day? Is spreading His unconditional and amazing love to a world that is hurting your top priority? Unless you tell someone every day that Jesus loves him or her, you haven’t accomplished anything because only what’s done for Christ will last. Let’s give Jesus the respect, honor and dignity that He deserves. He has paid a terrible price for us; His very life and He deserves to have all of our hearts, all of our time and talents, all of our lives and all of our loyalty. Does He come first before everyone and everything in your life? If not, you are breaking His heart.
