A HOUSE OF BEAUTY
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
Psalm 127: 1
King James Version
As I was walking through my home today, I realized that it is a house of beauty because of all the wonderful things that I have been given as gifts. Since I am on Social Security, I could never have bought all the beautiful knickknacks that I have and the lovely pictures that are hanging on my wall. God decorated my home through the love of my family and friends.
Just as God decorated my home through my family and friends, He has decorated my heart through the amazing and unconditional love of Jesus. My lovely Saviour, the beautiful Rose of Sharon, took all of my sins and all of the hatred and ugliness from my heart. He decorated my heart with His unconditional love, peace, joy, happiness, mercy and grace.
For years, I didn’t want to be around anybody. I hated everyone but one glorious, miraculous day, I met Jesus. He came to me when I couldn’t go to Him because I was literally lying underneath a bed in a mental hospital. I was afraid of everyone and everything. Mostly, I was afraid that I was going to kill myself. I was extremely suicidal and had no desire to live.
For over forty years, I tried every day to think of some way that I could kill myself without hurting my family. On the day when I had convinced myself that I really was no good, that I had nothing to contribute to society, that I could never help anyone, and that I really didn’t have any right to live and would have literally killed myself, Jesus rescued me.
He reached down His precious nail scarred hands and lifted me up out of the despair, horror, loneliness, pain and desperation of my life and sat me on His lap of love and held me close to His understanding heart of unconditional love and He has never let me go, not even for one minute.
Is it any wonder that I say, and will continue to say until the day I die, there is no one like Jesus! No one loves us like Jesus loves us. He is a friend beyond compare. He is the very breath that I take and the reason that I get out of bed in the morning. Without Jesus, there is no reason to live because He is the only one who can give a true and lasting peace, joy and happiness. This world with all of its glitter doesn’t hold a candle to the beauty of Jesus.
Have you met Jesus? Have you allowed Him to remove all the bitterness, anger, resentment, jealousy, hatred and criticism from your heart? If not, ask Him to forgive you and ask Him to please decorate your heart with His joy, peace, contentment, happiness, mercy, grace and understanding. He will be the dearest friend you have ever known and He will never leave you, not even for one minute.
