THE GREATEST GIFT GIVEN
For God so loved the world, that He gave
His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not die
Can we even grasp the enormity of what
God has done for you and I?
Have we considered?
Have we even tried to comprehend?
What a precious gift was given to us
And laid in a manger in Bethlehem
A star shone to announce His birth
Angels rejoiced, proclaiming peace on earth
On that Holy Night, God sent
A gift from Heaven to touch the hearts of men
He sent His only Son Jesus, to dwell and live among them
He was the perfect sacrifice for mankind’s salvation
The creator becoming creation
God lowered Himself to become
Just like one of us
A Holy God left His throne in Heaven
To know what it was like to be flesh and blood
The Lord of all, The King of Glory
Clothed Himself in humanity
With one hand still reaching towards Heaven
And with the other, stretched out to man
Jesus became like us, and demonstrated to us
Who the Father really is, so that we could understand
The Father is not distant and angry
He is full of Love, Grace and Mercy
The Father has His arms outstretched
To everyone of us, and calls us to come
And we can, through Jesus, the greatest gift given
His only begotten Son
Jesus reached out His hand to the adulterer
The sick, the needy, and the oppressed
He came to understand our human frailty
And sympathise with our weakness
Immanuel, God with us,
Lowered Himself to walk upon this earth
He felt every pain we feel, and
Experienced our every hurt
Jesus showed us who the Father is
While we were still filthy in our sin
He was willing to die for us
He redeemed us with His own precious blood
God loved the world so much that He
Was willing to become a human being
Our wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father
Prince of peace, has walked in the footsteps of you and me
Can we grasp it?
What kind of God is this?
That He would not come as great
But come as the servant of all
What kind of love is this?
That Jesus would take upon Himself
All our guilt, shame and sin
And for us, take the fall
A priceless gift was laid in a manger
On that Holy Night
It was a gift from God to save and heal
The broken hearts of all mankind
Jesus began in a cradle, but was
Destined for the cross
He was born to Die
For He was the Lamb of God
He was the lamb that was slain
To wipe the sin of the world away
As Jesus hung on the cross, with the nails
Piercing His hands and feet
He reconciled back to God
His most treasured possession, You and Me
In humility He was born and lived
In humiliation He suffered and died
JESUS was the greatest gift given
Gods ultimate sacrifice
Christmas is, and has always been about
The priceless gift God gave to us
He wrapped Him in His Love
And laid Him in a manger
He was the perfect gift from above
The Almighty God has shown us
Through Jesus, who He is
Jesus showed us, the Fathers heart
He is able to sympathise with our human weakness
And He understands who, what, and why
We are, the way we are
What an Awesome God,
Abounding in Grace and Love
That He would give to us
the greatest gift
His only begotten Son
This Christmas will you receive the greatest gift given?
