A KING IS BORN
Some shepherds that first Christmas night,
Grew fearful at a brilliant light.
Angelic hosts in choral voice,
Said, "Do not fear, be glad, rejoice,
For unto to you is born this day,
Laid in a manger full of hay,
A Savior, who is Christ the King.
Behold, tis of this birth we sing.
The chosen seed of Israel's race;
Has come and lies near to this place.
Arise, go see this Holy One;
Who has been born, God's precious Son!"
Some wise men in a distant land,
Observed a star, placed by God's hand.
They knew through study of God's Word,
This star would lead them to the Lord.
Forsaking homes they journeyed west,
Knowing full well they could not rest;
Until they found this promised King.
Lay at His feet their offering.
A wondrous King lay in that place.
He came to free a hopeless race.
Christ, Lord, the Savior came to reign,
The power over sin to gain.
But not with shield and sword to fight,
Not with an armies power and might.
He knew there was only one way,
To bring the force of sin to bay.
A perfect life would not suffice,
He came to be our sacrifice.
He came to live, and then to die;
Then conquering death ascend on high.
Now at the Father God's right hand,
He'll reign according to God's plan;
Until all earth bows at His throne,
And worships Him as King alone.
