WHY ME?
The Dogwood tree was bowing low As they cut it for His cross. He thought, "Don't blame me, I'm just a tree Where Jesus hung to save the lost." He saw the Roman soldiers coming And he noticed there were three. Then, as they cut into his branches, He wondered, "Why did God choose me?" "Why did God choose me," he thought? "I'm just a little Dogwood tree. A King hung upon my branches, there, For all the world to see. I'm so honored by this Savior Who chose to die, upon my limbs, To give this world the Gift of Life. People owe it all to Him. Now, I serve as a reminder, When I branch out in the Spring, My blooms are shaped just like His cross And, in the center, are the red blood stains. I still can't help but wonder As I'm blowing in the breeze, With all the trees here in this forest, Tell me, why did God choose me?"
