NOLA
Nola was small and fat, but she was sweet and pretty. I got her from the woods. How she came there was a real wonder. Maybe God kept her there for me as a gift.
I bundled her up in a small cage. Every week I took her to the vet to make sure that her health was alright. She grew up and became a really beautiful duck.
Nola had many acquaintances. Whoever came to our house, Nola would greet by preening her feathers and nodding her head.
She enjoyed the company of visitors. On their way to school, the little children peeped in to see Nola. She let them feel her soft white feathers. She softly nuzzled her red beak up and down their arms and legs.
It was a pleasure for her to go to the nearby bridge, competing with those who walk with their dogs. She liked the company of hens and roosters.
I knew that it was time for her to get a friend from her own family. Off I went to the market and bought a beautiful drake. Rushing back home, I put him beside Nola. O! Nola was overjoyed, and they both decided to live together for life.
