Please could you join me in prayer for two friends who are suffering because of having to work with unreasonable "bosses".
I personally identify with workplace stress and bullying problems as I have suffered depression, anxiety and panic attacks through being "trapped" through need to work, in work situations in schools with difficult head teachers.
Some heads and managers know how to motivate and encourage their staff; others seem to come in wanting to change everything, and have no respect for the experience of older established staff members. Sometimes, no matter how hard you work, however late you stay up working behind the scenes to prepare for the next day, it is never enough to please these people.
A friend I once worked with, Marian, is facing this situation now. She is a Christian, but too tired and stressed to pray for her own situation.
She has always been an excellent teacher, with a real love for her young pupils.
A new Headteacher has been appointed at her school, and she is out to change everything and make a name for herself. She is bullying the older, existing staff. It could be that she wants them out so she can draft in her own, younger staff who may be easier to "mould". I have seen this happen many times. Maybe younger heads feel "threatened" by staff older than themselves?
Marian also has had to look after her mother, who has Alkzeimer's disease. (This is so common.) She has been ill with stress and her doctor signed her off for three weeks.
She has applied for another post. Please pray for Marian and anyone else in that school being treated badly by someone with little management skill. I have heard so much about this and experienced it myself. It affects both your health and your confidence.
Also another friend of ours is in a similar position. This is a young man with a wife and two children. He is the sole "breadwinner" in the family.
He is working in the field of professional sport, and is also suffering from stress to such an extent that he has sought medical advice.
Again it is a case of a new "boss" going in upsetting existing team members , after our friend had worked so hard to motivate and encourage them. As a result things have gone badly, after he had worked hard to bring about an improvement.
He is also a Christian.
I find so often that Christians find it difficult to pray for themselves, especially when they are worn out with trying to cope with their work problems and other matters.
Please pray for these two friends. God bless you and thank you so much.
