HEAVEN'S HEART BREAK
As Jesus knelt in the Garden of Gethsemane
His heart began to ache with sorrow and grief
He cried out to the Father, and asked if He would remove the cup
And with tears of blood dripping from His face He humbled Himself
And said, “Not My will, But Your will Father, be done”
He was arrested, and betrayed with a kiss
He was bloodied and bruised,
His skin was torn off His back with the lashes of a whip
Jesus’ heart melted like wax within Him
Because rejection and scorn
They mocked Him, they beat Him and
Thrust upon His head, a crown of thorns
Every child, woman and man
Were in His thoughts, as the nails were driven into His hands
Their faces flashed before Him, people from the present,
The future, and the past
Every sin, every pain, and wound that mankind felt
Was laid upon Him and penetrated His heart
The guilt and shame of our sin, blanketed Him like a cloud
Naked, they raised Him up on the cross
And jolted it into the ground
Anguish, grief, and sorrow overwhelmed Him
As He carried upon His beaten, and bruised shoulders
Our weight of sin
Rejection pierced Him like a sword, as darkness covered the sky
"My God! My God! Why have you forsaken Me?” He cried
Tears mixed with blood ran down His face in
Indescribable pain, and ultimate misery
Heaven was silent; no comfort was given to Him in His hour of need
As He gave up His spirit, and breathed His last breath
He uttered, “It is finished”
His heart broke with grief, which was what caused His death
It wasn’t the nails that killed Him,
Nor was it wasn’t the lashes of the whip and the cruel beatings
Jesus died of a broken heart
He died from sorrow and grief
Jesus is not unacquainted with grief and loss
We broke His heart, as He hung on that old wooden cross
His heart snapped in two under the burden of
Our sin, guilt and shame
Everything we have done, everything we have gone through
Jesus has known
He has walked the road of sorrow, grief and pain
He is not a God that is distant,
A God that does not understand who we are
He is a God that came to earth to know
And understand, what is feels like
To endure a broken heart
All those who have lost someone they loved
All those who have suffered rejection, and abuse
Jesus’ heart broke for you
All those who have been prisoners of sin and shame
All those who need to know Gods love, mercy and Grace
Jesus’ heart broke for you
All those who have had their hopes and dreams shattered
And don’t think they are worth anything to anyone, and
Don’t think they matter
Jesus’ heart broke for you
All those who are alone, and drowning in sorrow and grief
Jesus is closer to you than the very air you breathe
Heavens Heart broke the day Jesus was crucified
Jesus knows your sorrow and He really cares
Which is why He bottles, every tear you’ve cried
