FIGHT THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT WITH THE SWORD OF TRUTH
In our battle against the Jezebel Spirit by wielding the sword of truth, deliverance is a most important process of conquering Satan's evil forces and becoming all GOD intends you to be. It removes all bondage from you so that the your true nature can emerge in spirit and in truth. Deliverance releases you to be the real YOU. Oppression is when evil spirits attach themselves to you through the work of the devil, who is allowed access into your life through your own sin.
Deliverance helps you to possess the full dimensions of what JESUS CHRIST died to give you. It helps you to get rid of the remnants of hell from your tormented past, which often manipulates you in different ways. Deliverance sets you free and enables you to become a new person, liberated in Christ. Deliverance is the thorough severing away of anything that oppresses you. It could come in the form of a crippling spirit of fear, deceit, lying or depression.
JESUS CHRIST is our Deliverer, and deliverance was one of His primary ministries on earth.
"In My name they will cast out demons." - (Mark 16:17)
The demons that oppress you are cast out by God's delivering power in the name of Jesus Christ. When people need physical healing, JESUS heals them. When they are bound, oppressed and tormented by demons, HE delivers them. Once demons oppress a person, only the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ can deliver them. Demons are terrible in their own right, but their power does not come anywhere near God's awesome power. When people are in bondage, they are controlled by Satan. Deliverance by the supernatural power of God gives JESUS CHRIST supreme control over a person's life.
WHAT IS DELIVERANCE?
Behind every sin lurks an evil spirit. All bondage stems from disobedience. When people sin, an evil spirit gets a strong foothold in their lives, and only the eternal power of the Lord can deliver them. People can come under the oppression of an evil spirit through their own personal ignorance and rebellion, victimization by others or inheriting the sinful legacy from a parent.
Deliverance is when the supernatural power of JESUS CHRIST evicts the devil from a person's life. People must want to be set free and refuse to be crippled by the devil. God will remove burdens from our lives but we must allow Him to do so. Deliverance is a steady process, a gradual stripping away bit by bit, one step at a time, as we are able to endure. Always, it is in His way and in His own divine timing.
Every person is made up of body, soul and spirit. The body is the outer layer and the spirit is the inner core of a person's being. The soul lies in between the body and the spirit. It is made up of the mind, emotions and will. Satan can oppress a person's mind and emotions, influence the will and attack the body, but he cannot touch the spirit of a person who has been born again in the power of the Holy Spirit.
When people receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and are filled with the Holy Spirit, they cannot be possessed by a demon. When people are born again, their spirits are covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, who died for their sins on Calvary. Satan cannot touch their spirits but He can touch their bodies and souls, and they can be oppressed by demons. When God delivers people from being demon-oppressed, He releases their souls into His freedom.
Each person is responsible for their lives and must actively examine their own consciences. Have they allowed evil spirits to oppress them by sinning? Is an evil power in control of their lives instead of God's supernatural power? People can become oppressed if they do not actively choose the Will of God in their lives.
When people confess their sins, they are forgiven instantly, but they must throw off their bondage by giving no place to the devil and his evil forces. A person who is born-again constantly faces a possible satanic attack. With a weak defense or an inability to deal with past sins, Satan quickly establishes points of manipulation to achieve his evil purposes and to torment God's children.
A person can be oppressed by the devil when they are disobedient to God's laws, and are constantly dealing with negative emotions like anger, rage, fear, guilt, unforgiveness, bitterness, self-pity, hatred and jealousy. This creates bondage and causes the evil spirits behind these thoughts to attach themselves to the person. A bitter person will harbour a spirit of bitterness, which in turn can cause sickness, as the body breaks down under its weight.
Tragedy, trauma and severe disappointments in life can cause a person to harden their hearts against God, thereby providing a foothold for Satan. On the other hand, when people become so proud of their own accomplishments that they refuse to acknowledge God's power any longer, this paves the way for pride to enter the soul, opening up the way for bondage.
People can also inherit spiritual bondage from the root of the family tree - their parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents - "visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children" - Numbers 14:18). This bondage is like a wound that cannot heal. Only deliverance can cause the wound to heal by striking at the root of the generational curse in the name of Jesus Christ. We must boldly declare our new birth into God's family and claim our new spiritual inheritance by faith. This will break all generational curses in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, by the supernatural power of the blood shed for us on Calvary.
Seek the Deliverer in faith, and He will deliver you. Harbouring memories of past hurts and failures and confronting a severe inability to forgive others are areas in which most people need deliverance. Deliverance causes a person to become very transparent and real, reflecting the transcendent glory of Christ.
To get deliverance from every bondage in your life, you must confess, renounce and forsake all your sins, and forgive those who hurt you. You must separate yourself totally from the powers of darkness. You must cast out the evil spirits in the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of His blood shed for us on Calvary. We must praise and worship the Lord in the spirit of holiness. Worship stamps the seal of deliverance upon you. The prison doors of our lives will burst open, our bondage is forever broken, and we are released into liberating and exhilarating freedom.
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom"
- (2 Corinthians 3:17)
"From the Lord comes deliverance" - (Psalm 3:8)
"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
- (John 8:32)
