GIFTS IN THE NIGHT They begin as a whisper, so distant, but so clear. At first I’m not even sure it’s the music that I hear. How can the Anchor so strong make sounds so feather-light as He plays those songs of peace for my soul in deep of night? I am awakened slowly by tender melodies, in awe of my God’s presence, yet my heart is set at ease. Only then do the angels join and they too sing to me. Those special gifts from heaven, oh, my midnight reveries. If I could capture the words, I’d share them all with you. But Spirit sings to spirit and there’s nothing I can do. The music fades with consciousness, but always leaves me changed. Those special gifts from heaven, compositions God arranged. © JOYCE POOL www.faithwriters.com/member-profile.php?id=2006
