JESUS LOOKED, PETER WEPT
He turned, he looked...and Peter wept: Reproach hooked to a soul that slept Uneasy...he had tracked the trial.. And though that covert watch he kept Was stained by his denial. Can WE protest? Can WE condemn? Would WE shine out- a solid gem? Would WE be any stronger? When fear of death, can stop the breath- Could we have held out longer?
Like Peter, some may yet declare, Undying courage, unaware That words alone though bravely meant Break- in the anger of despair Describe denial, or mute consent. Can WE obey? Can WE repay? Can WE keep to that narrow way? Declare our faith unbending? When others jeer, or our career Depends on worldly blending?
But Peter’s life, example set Of life restored, though faults beset. A love that covers fault and stain, Amazing love that paid our debt And helps us to our feet again. Do we give in? So prone to sin Our lives a long unending fight? No- take His hand, He’ll help you stand- His Love will lead you into Light!
