This cross I wear ‘round mortal neck
has been a symbol of Faith these many years.
Always given, and always returned
when another soul’s spiritual lesson was learned.
This beautiful, golden cross of conviction
holds fast to my heart, gives me strength
to depart of His wisdom and wondrous deeds.
This cross, always returns; as the plant from it’s seed,
as awake follows dreams, as lavender scent of spring,
and a beautiful flower blossoms, Faith is a glorious thing.
This cross, with its Faith but a seedling planted within this soul,
in the rich and manna filled earth of the Father,
nothing stronger than the enrichment and glow
of enlightenment offered, with hope
shared in good measure, we know
in our hearts there are no solids with Faith,
an intangible, guiding hand, offered this day,
my abiding trust lets him guide my way.
This beautiful, golden crucifix ‘round mortal neck
passed to best friend ‘pon her deathbed.
Given in friendship, comfort and Faith
that the Lord was right by her, every breath she would take.
A call the next morning after our final goodbyes,
a call that brought fresh, mourning tears to my eyes.
That phone call, as I picked it up, I knew what it would be,
the youngest of her daughters said, “I have your cross with me,
and would you like it back now that mom is gone?
I know how much it means to you,
and that it lends its voice to Lezah’s song.”
This cross I wear ‘round mortal neck…
is to remind of brotherhood, love and respect.
May it never be forgotten ~ the sacrificing of this lamb;
I continue to hold fast, to the Lord’s guiding hand.
