The Lord is PEACE By DeAnna Brooks
THE LORD IS PEACE
(Judges 6:24)
There was an altar built of stone
By Gideon’s hands ‘twas made
An altar near a terebinth tree
Where God spoke, “Be not afraid!”
Jehovah came and met with him
And face-to-face they spoke
He built and altar to mark that day
To remind him when he woke.
“Peace!” declared the Lord that eve,
“Peace ‘tween you and me.”
And Gideon heard and faith was birthed
Beneath that oaken tree.
The Lord is Peace had come to seek
A heart lost and sore afraid
And give him His assurances
The path to peace in Him was laid.
While Gideon’s altar stood made of stone
Another altar came to be
Where God did lay His precious Son
Upon an oaken tree
Those spoken words to Gideon fell
Promising peace that yet would come
The Lord is Peace would be the name
The Father bestowed upon the Son.
So in the storms of life I face
Or the joys beyond degree
May my soul lay claim to the promise made
The Lord of Peace, He died for me.
