RAIN IN THE DESERT
Clouds billow over jagged red peaks But never advance Taunting the thirsty sand desert below And its parched inhabitants Ever scurrying to the moving shade Of the sun in its circuit Over convected vegetation Then it happens Some overstuffed cumulus Breaks over and blows In your direction... Begins to shower you in anticipation Of relief you have sought... Refreshing you imagine So close now and real But the promise has been taken Evaporated into thin air A Virga of rain That never can fall To the ground Where its needed... Parched...
Pray again... Break through... More till it brings... Not a shower, But a life changing flood... Ever altering the landscape, And sweeps away all debris...
