He Will Quiet You with His Love By Rebecca Livermore I recently subscribed to a new (to me) service at www.thisdaysthought.org . Each day I’m emailed a quote, verse for the day, etc. I was really encouraged by yesterday’s verse: The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17). I don’t know about you, but right now, today, at this very moment, I need to be quieted by God’s love. The picture that comes to my mind is one of a mother embracing her child who is afraid or hurting in some way. As the mother holds her child, she gently whispers words of reassurance and love. Whatever is troubling the child no longer seems big and scary. The child rests in her mother’s embrace, reassured by the mother’s love. Yesterday I was feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and anxious about a situation I was facing. The Scripture popped up in my email at just the right time; as I thought of God’s great love for me, I was quieted in my spirit, and the thing I was facing no longer felt overwhelming. Today as I go about my work, I can almost hear Him rejoicing over me with singing. What a loving and tender God we serve! © 2006 by Rebecca Livermore, a Christian speaker and writer from Denver, Colorado. Her passion is helping people grow spiritually.
