GOD’S LITTLE BOYS
by JOANNE LOWE
“When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!”
John 11: 33 – 36
King James Version
Our society has done a grave injustice to men. If men cry, some people say they are weak. They are conditioned by society that they must always be brave and not cry no matter what the circumstances. I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that there never was or never will be a man stronger that Jesus, yet He wept. If the Saviour of the world can weep, how dare we think less of a man if he cries?
God is not impressed with the strength of a man; He is touched by the condition of the man’s heart. God doesn’t care about titles because He doesn’t call them by their professional titles. He calls them by their first names because they are His little boys and He loves them. Just as parents consider their children to be their little girls or boys no matter how old they are, so God looks on a man no matter what age he is as His little boy.
We wonder why our husbands don’t show their emotions and share what is in their hearts with us; I think it is because they are afraid that we won’t respect them if they show signs of weakness. A man works long hours and is tired when he gets home. Many times as soon as he walks in the door, we tell him all the things that have gone wrong that day and how the children were disobedient to us. A man once made the statement “I don’t want to go home anymore because there is no peace or rest”.
Let’s be more considerate and understanding to our husbands, sons, and all the men in our lives. We should be praying for them and asking God to encourage their hearts. We should take our husbands by the hand, look into their eyes and say “O how I love you. I appreciate all the hard work you do in providing for us. You are so dear to my heart and I want to be the encourager to you as you are to me”.
I think if we were to say this on a daily basis to our husbands, we would have a lot more laughter, joy, peace and harmony in our marriages. Our children would see the love and respect we have for our husbands and they in turn would become respectful to us and to other people.
I encourage you to not only tell your husband you love and appreciate him, but prove it to him by your actions and by not being critical of him. Remember, God loves your husband as much as He loves you.
