ARE YOU A SPARK
“He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.”
John 1: 41, 42
King James Version
There is a beautiful song that has lodged deep in my heart. I’m not sure if I have all the words correct or in the right order but the message of the song is the same. “It only takes a spark to get a fire going and soon all those around can warm up in its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s Love, you want to sing, it’s fresh like spring, you want to pass it on. I wish for you, my friend, this happiness that I’ve found”.
Many years ago when I lived in Texas , I was the captain of one of the church buses. Every Saturday I would go visit all the children and adults that rode my bus to church. One Saturday as I was visiting the home of a new bus rider, a seven year old girl, I talked to her at the door. I never went in the house unless the parents were home and invited me to come inside. I had the joy and privilege of leading this dear precious little girl to ask Jesus into her heart to be her personal Saviour.
As soon as I said “Amen” after we prayed, that sweet child of God immediately ran into the kitchen and told her mother that she had Jesus in her heart. Her mother came to the door and invited me inside. We visited for a little while and then I asked her “If God were to ask you why He should let you into Heaven, what would you say”? She replied “Because I am a kind person and do many things for many people”.
I then shared with her that the Bible says “All our righteousness is but filthy rags”. (Isaiah 64:6) I told her about Jesus and how much He Loves her and then I watched another miracle unfold as this wonderful mother humbled herself and asked Jesus to forgive her of her sins and come into her heart to be her Saviour. She had tears streaming down her face when she started praying. After she had invited Jesus to be her personal Saviour, she had a smile on her face and joy in her eyes.
While I was praying with the mother, the little girl had gone into the bedroom and told her brother and sister about Jesus being in her heart and that she wanted them to have Him in their hearts also. As she came into the living room where her mother and I were sitting, she was holding her brother and sister’s hands. She said “Give Jesus to them”. They prayed and accepted Jesus into their hearts also. That simple little statement from the heart of this precious little girl is what real love is all about. It is about giving Jesus to others by our kind and loving words, but especially by our loving and kind actions.
I was just walking out the door after saying goodbye to these dear people when the little girl’s dad drove into the driveway. The little girl ran outside and took her dad by the hand and told him that Jesus lived in her heart. Her dad was a big husky man and a very important person in the community but when he saw the joy in his little girl’s eyes, his heart melted and he asked me what she was talking about. All of us went back inside and as his wife was holding his hand and his little girl was sitting on his lap, he gave his heart and life to Jesus.
An entire family was saved that glorious day because the little girl had received the spark of love in her heart and she wanted to give it to her loved ones. Do you have this spark in your heart? Do you have an urgent desire to give Jesus to others? If you don’t, then you have not experienced the joy and happiness that only He can give us. Before we can pass this spark of love to others, it must first be in our own hearts. Have you invited the Christ of Calvary into your heart to be your personal Saviour?
Your loved ones can’t do it for you as much as they want to do so. You have to be the one to humble yourself and ask Jesus to forgive you and save you and be your personal Saviour. Please don’t wait! I beg you; I urge you, Don’t wait!! Don’t put it off another minute. Jesus is waiting for you with a heart filled with unconditional love and with His arms open wide. Run into His precious arms of forgiveness, tenderness, understanding and mercy. He will put a joy and peace in your heart that you have never known and all hell won’t be able to take it away!
