NEVER AGAIN
“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
John 6: 32 – 35
King James Version
Have you ever gone out to eat and said “I ate so much and I am so full that I won’t have to eat the rest of the day”? I have gone out to eat and said that very thing, yet later that night I was hungry again. I used to be so hungry for love and acceptance until one day the Saviour of the world reached down His hand of mercy, love, forgiveness and understanding and forgave me of all my sins, deposited His cleansing atoning blood in my heart and gave me a new heart and a new life.
On August 14, 1980 when I admitted that I was a sinner and asked Jesus to come into my heart to be my personal Saviour, He filled me with His unconditional love and forgiveness. I have known since that day that even if it seems that nobody loves me or cares about me, Jesus loves me and cares about me. I have never felt that hunger and thirst for real love and acceptance again. Thank God that when Jesus fills us with His acceptance and unconditional love, nobody or nothing can take it from us. We should have a deep hunger for the Word of God. We should read our Bibles daily, but more than that, we should spend time every day with the Living Word, Jesus.
The longer I serve Jesus, and it has been two years now, the more I find myself wanting to be in His presence. Indeed, He is the bread of life. He gives us everything that we need. Sometimes we think we need things that we don’t really need. We don’t need big homes, fancy cars, yachts and memberships in clubs, but we do need Jesus. We need His understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, mercy and unconditional love. There are so many people, even in our own neighborhoods, who are hungry to know that someone loves them. Instead of spending so much money on things that we can’t take with us, let’s make a special effort to use that money in a manner that will please Jesus.
If you are hungry and thirsty today for someone to love you unconditionally, run into the waiting arms of Jesus. He loves you and cares about you. He will be the dearest friend you have ever known. He will never criticize you or say sarcastic words to you. He will take your hand and walk with you through the bad times as well as the good times. You can depend on Jesus!
