Bible Story Poems
David And Goliath David was a brave Young Israelite. He was only a shepherd boy, Too young to fight. All that he had was his staff And his sling, And faith in The Lord; Who could do anything. Now, Goliath was a Philistine, A giant among men, Who challenged every Israelite To come forth and conquer him. He wore his heavy coat of armor And carried a sharpened spear. And, for forty days, his challenge Filled the Israelites with fear. So, David pleaded with the King (who at that time was Saul) To go into battle with Goliath And refute his mocking call.
Though, Saul felt ill at ease ; And tried to change the young man's mind, David said, "With God's help, I once killed a bear and lion." Then, Saul replied, "If you must fight; Then won't you take my sword? And, David said, "All I will need are my rocks And sling, and the armor of "The Lord."
So, David took out his staff and sling, And then his five smooth stones. He went upon the hillside, To face Goliath on His own. Then, David said, "You come to me, With your javelin, sword, and spear, But, I come to you in the name of the Lord. And now, I have no fear." Then, David took out his sling. With one smooth stone And with his expert throw, He struck Goliath in the head. Then he fell, with one sharp blow.
David rushed up to the giant. Then, with Goliath's sword, He cut off the giant's head ... Giving the victory to His Lord.
