WHAT CAN I GIVE YOU, FLESH?
Oh, flesh, what can I give you? I gave you my all and I received thy woes, Giving you my mind, a trash-can you made it. Everything you needed were all I dreaded, But your menaces brought me mercies.
Oh flesh, what can I give you? All my best were your debts, You asked for my time, but crime you gave me. In you I put my trust, only then I got crushed, What can I give you, flesh?
I thought you needed faith, but you said Fame, And with you in the storm, all I could was drawn. When I said hope, your answer is cope, Only without your desires, is the joy of my Messiah. What can I give you flesh?
When I wanted to share, you said spare, I counted everyone, but you wanted barely none. I thought I had enough, yet you called it scratch. I put a smile on my face, even for that you grimaced, All my reflections, you made them depressions.
I saw the word righteous, you called it "Right is ours" Holiness seemed like loneliness to you. I prayed while trying, yet you cried while sighing, And when I gave you attention, you gave me tension. What can I give you flesh?
Even Christ my delight, to you was piety your disgust, It's you I will whittle down, that my joy may triple now. No bargain with you, but restrain for you, I will jilt you, because guilt is what you give, Excuse me Flesh, I refuse your frets.
Oh flesh, what can I give you?
