BELOVED JACOB’S NAME CHANGE
Gen 32:24-32 NKJV
Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob's hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, "Let Me go, for the day breaks." But he said,"I will not let You go unless You bless me !"
So He said to him, "What is your name?" He said, "Jacob." 28 And He said,"Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed." 29 Then Jacob asked, saying, "Tell me Your name, I pray." And He said,"Why is it that you ask about My name?" And He blessed him there.
MEANING OF NAMES: JACOB: Heel grabber; supplanter; OT:3290 Ya`aqob ; OT:6117; heel-catcher (i.e. supplanter); Jaakob, the Israelitish patriarch: KJV - Jacob. ISRAEL: Ruler, Yisra'el OT:3478 Yisra'el (yis-raw-ale'); from OT:8280 and OT:410; he will rule as God; Jisrael, a symbolical name of Jacob; also (typically) of his posterity: - Israel. {Jacobs consecrated spot; drive with the wind} OT:416 'El Beyth-' El (ale bayth-ale'); from OT:410 and OT:1008; the God of Bethel; El-Bethel, the title given to a consecrated spot by Jacob: KJV - El-beth-el. NT:416 anemizo (an-em-id'-zo); from NT:417; to toss with the wind: KJV - drive with the wind.
Gen 35:7 KJV
And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
“The time of new beginnings is upon us and will now start to unfold. God will take some back to visit the old places where it will be like Jacob’s journey back to Bethel to remember the covenant. From Bethel, Jacob went on to Bethlehem to establish spiritual authority for the birth of the King of the twelve tribes of Israel.”
So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: "For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." 31 Just as he crossed over Penuel the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the socket of Jacob's hip in the muscle that shrank.
It was ordained of God. God is truly changing Jacob’s name and nature.
I WILL CHANGE YOUR NAME
I will change your name. You shall no longer be called "Wounded, Outcast, Lonely, or Afraid. I will change your name. Your new name shall be "Joyfulness, Confidence, Overcoming One, Faithfulness, Friend of God, One Who Seeks My Face."
Gen 32:30 NKJV
So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: "For I have seen God face to face , and my life is preserved."
Gen 35:9-15 NKJV
Then God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan Aram, and blessed him. 10 And God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called Jacob anymore, but Israel shall be your name." So He called his name Israel. 11 Also God said to him:"I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. 12 The land which I gave Abraham and Isaac I give to you; and to your descendants after you I give this land." 13 Then God went up from him in the place where He talked with him. 14 So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where He talked with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it. 15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.
JACOB’S NAME CHANGE
Jacob you have wrestled with Me for so long. Oh zealous one, places where you have striven with man to obtain, you have striven with Me. The blessings you have wanted, the validation you have sought, your provision and inheritance are Mine to give you. In your passion to find your destiny, I have brought you through many years to bring you through to your name change. You have endured much chastening by My hand and walked through much pain to have come to this place where you no longer wrestle or grasp. I am so proud of you for being willing to let go of your strivings and walk into your place. I call you leader, ruler, prince with Me. With your new name change, I will set that which was dislocated back into its place so that you shall no longer walk with a limp. For I AM the God Who redeems all.
Heb 12:10-13 NKJV
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
