SPECIAL
And they have “special needs”!
Well- don’t we all? And besides
Who measures and compares them?
We all fall short!
That boy- he must be special
As he made this Christmas
Light up in my heart.
I’d gone to watch them,
Taking their part
Within the age-old story:
Angels with their pale and folded hands;
And Mary with her highly favoured smile.
And he, a shepherd boy
Large and lumbering, stumbling
Towards the stable,
Always a step away from some untimely trip.
I turned and caught his eye,
And all the stars descended in his smile,
That said, “I’m glad you’re there for me!”
Perhaps I was the only one, who knows?
Parents afraid to beg an hour from work?
But how it shows
We all need to be special
And to have someone to share
Our striving and our dreams.
Sometimes it takes so little time,
Just to be there, and care,
As Jesus cares for us!
