A VISION OF HEAVEN
by Hilary Freer
As you read or listen to my vision, travel with me into that beautiful garden and meet Jesus and you will also feel the Love, Joy, and Peace that only He can give. Jesus is alive today and loves you so much and He will never leave or forsake you if you will put all your trust in Him.
It was Wednesday night; 11 o’clock. Lying comfortably in bed, I was listening to my favourite hymn, “In the Garden.” Suddenly, I was no longer in bed. I was under the power of God. I was walking with my frame along a path: On one side of the path there were some lovely cottages, whilst at the other side there were some lovely gardens. However, it was not the cottages or the gardens that attracted my attention but the beautiful archway at the end of the path. The archway was covered in roses and honeysuckle.
Reaching the end of the path, I stood gazing at this beautiful archway; there was a glow of light all around it and the sweet scent of the roses was almost overpowering. Alongside the archway there was a hedge which went up a hill. The hedge was covered with roses. There was a grassy path going up a hill beside the hedge.
Very slowly, I walked through the archway, knowing that this was a very special place and that, once having been inside, I would never be the same again.
I was in a beautiful garden. On the left hand side of this garden there was a border of beautiful flowers and also trees bearing luscious fruit. Further up there were more trees and many different kinds of birds on the branches, singing and chirping to each other. At the bottom of the garden there were kittens, puppies and lambs rolling around joyfully on the velvety lush, green grass.
Taking my gaze away from the animals, I turned to look at the top of the garden, where a crowd of children were playing happily. There were even some little babies, looking like little angels.
Round the back of the garden, was a border with many different flowers, all very beautiful. This continued down the right side of the garden.
I stood and gazed down this right side of the garden and halfway down, my eyes alighted on a seat for two. Beside this seat was the figure of a man, dressed in glittering white. I could not see His face; the light that shone around Him was so bright.
Through a haze of light, I could see His arms outstretched, beckoning to me to come to Him. Suddenly I knew that I was in the presence of JESUS; my LORD and SAVIOUR!
Feeling ashamed of all the sins I had committed in my life, I slowly walked towards His outstretched arms. Gently His arms enfolded me, and He whispered in my ear, “Hilary, I love you and I’ve always loved you- and I always will. I gave my life to save you.” Gently, he took my hand, and, as He did so, I felt the prints of the cruel nails in His hands.
Leading me to the seat, he sat me down and then sat down beside me. Putting His arm around my shoulder, he began to talk to me. His voice was so gentle and, as He spoke, I realised that the children had become quiet as they sat listening intently to His beautiful voice. The birds in the trees had also become silent, and the animals had stopped rolling around and were quietly listening.
Just sitting there beside Him, I felt so happy and there was a deep peace within me. He told me that all my sin was forgiven and that, when He died on the cross, it was for me and for EVERYONE who believed in Him.
He told me what a beautiful place Heaven was; with no pain or sorrow, just Love and Peace. He also told me that one day I would meet the ones I had loved on earth; the ones who had believed in Him and had gone on to Heaven before me. He told me that we would never have to part again.
The time passed so quickly and suddenly it was Eventide. I glanced at the children and the animals and they were all curled up and going to sleep.
Jesus then told me, very gently, that it was time for me to leave. I was so sad. I never wanted to leave Him, my precious SAVIOUR, or to leave this beautiful garden. Slowly I got up. Jesus walked with me across the grass to the archway. The moon was shining on the roses, giving them a beautiful glow in the dusk.
Jesus turned to me and said, “One day, Hilary, you will not need that frame to walk with; you will be walking and dancing along with me!” Then we reached the archway, I slowly walked through. I turned to look at Jesus, but He was no longer there. Yet, the garden still shone with a beautiful light.
As I walked away, His last words were still ringing in my ears. “I will never leave you or forsake you. I will always be beside you and one day, we will be together forever.
All of a sudden, I knew I was back in my bed. I had been given a wonderful vision of Jesus and Heaven. Then I remembered the green pathway going up the hill from the archway and I knew that it was the Green Hill which, 2,000 years ago, my Saviour had walked, carrying that cruel cross to Calvary on which He died and shed His precious blood for me and for all mankind. He died so that all who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16)
