PRISONER FOR CHRIST
Are you ‘the prisoner of Jesus?’ – (Ephesians 3:1 & 2 Timothy 1:8). Are you imprisoned in the prisons of life? Why are there so many prisons in our lives? Why are we bound in the heavy chains of sorrow and suffering? God teaches us precious lessons in prison that we cannot learn in freedom. The prison will accomplish God’s purposes in your life.
When your freedom is cut off, your wings are clipped and the prison walls shut you in, do not fret and mourn in desperation. If you do not learn your lessons in the School of Pain, your time of captivity might be prolonged indefinitely until you learn them the hard way. The bitter darkness cannot shut out God’s light. You are not cut off from Him. “Your hopes and expectations will not be cut off” – (Proverbs 23:18). His people are never out of His reach. Do not fear His prisons. The prison walls only serve to hem you into His purposes for your life.
“And the light shined in the cell” – Amy Carmichael.
God educates you in His School of Pain. Your life is His School room. The school rules are very hard but the good scholars learn them best. The lesson of Patience is one of the hardest lessons to learn. A little at a time makes the next bit easier. Sometimes, things look very dark in the School of Pain. It is so dark that even hope cannot shine its light through. That’s when we have to wait patiently for hope – hoping against hope to see the glimmer of a prospect. We must have a child-like faith and trust in God. “As the evening twilight fades away, the sky is filled with stars, invisible to day.”
